Un refrán alemán dice que lo bueno, a veces, se hace esperar.
Eso lo pudo comprobar Ulrike Möhring (bióloga, fotógrafa e ilustradora de libros). Ella no escatimó ningún esfuerzo y aguantó en los alrededores del muladar hasta que los señoríos (buitre leonado y buitre negro) se sentaron a la mesa.
Aunque no sigan precisamente nuestros modales a la hora de sentarnos a una mesa para comer, los buitres son una especie de policía sanitaria en la naturaleza. Con sus hábitos alimenticios - comen sólo carroña - "neutralizan" muchas bacterias, gérmenes patógenos y excreciones tóxicas de los cadáveres. Según recientes investigaciones de científicos daneses (http://www.wissenschaft.de/leben-umwelt/biologie/-/journal_content/56/12054/5095264/Geier-m%C3%B6gen-es-giftig/), les ayudan unas 528 bacterias diferentes que se encuentran en su cuero cabelludo.

Was lange währt, wird endlich gut.
Das dachte sich auch Ulrike Möhring (Biologin, Fotografin und Buchillustratorin), die keine Mühe scheute, so lange in der Umgebung des Luderplatzes auszuharren, bis die Herrschaften (Gänsegeier und Mönchsgeier) sich an den gedeckten Tisch setzten.
Auch wenn es nicht unsere Tischmanieren sind, so sind Geier die Gesundheitspolizei der Natur und "neutralisieren" durch ihre Essgewohnheiten - ausschliesslich Aas - viele Bakterien, Krankheitserreger und giftige Ausscheidungen der Kadaver. Dabei sind ihnen - laut neuesten Erkenntnissen dänischer Forscher (http://www.wissenschaft.de/leben-umwelt/biologie/-/journal_content/56/12054/5095264/Geier-m%C3%B6gen-es-giftig/) - u.a. 528 verschieden Bakterien auf ihrer Kopfhaut behilflich.

That is what Ulrike Möhring (biologist, photographer and book illustrator) could prove true. She spared no effort and held out at the bait place until the gentlemen (griffon vulture and black vulture) took place at the table.
Although their table manners might be different to ours, they still are a kind of a health police in nature and "neutralize" with their eating habits - they live on carrion - many bacteria, pathogenic germs and toxic egesta. Due to recent investigations of danish cientists (http://www.wissenschaft.de/leben-umwelt/biologie/-/journal_content/56/12054/5095264/Geier-m%C3%B6gen-es-giftig/) they are being helped by about 528 different bacteria on their scalp.
