A few days ago, we participated in the tasks of
placing GPS collars, surveillance cameras, and sound alerts for the project
BioNNOMÍA. GPS collars utilize various #sensors and #connectivity technologies
to allow ranchers to monitor their livestock at all times. Once the device
is placed on the animal, the rancher can monitor its path at all times and
analyze its behavioral patterns.
Thanks to the alerts, immediate notification is
provided if any of the animals leave the farm, experience a period of high
activity, or show changes in body temperature. These sensors open up the
possibility of reducing damage caused by wolf attacks, which have become common
in recent years.
In addition to helping prevent such attacks by
analyzing animal behavior, they also provide a way to reliably demonstrate to
the authorities that an attack has occurred, making it possible to receive
compensation.
With the camera, the shepherd can check the condition
of the herd from home, and if an alert is triggered due to movement outside the
enclosure, they are notified, can observe what’s happening, and, if necessary,
go to the location or activate sound and light signals to scare off predators
or trigger emergency deterrent lights. This type of device improves the
shepherds' #qualityoflife when they corral their flocks at night or during the
day when they need to leave them in the gates to conduct business outside the
port. It also provides peace of mind.
