Every year,
during the day of “San Lorenzo”, Checa’s streets (Guadalajara province) may be
enjoyed within a festive atmosphere. Around the place, up to 10000 candles are
displayed to switch off the lights of the township and to “turn on” the
sustainable mindsets of those who walk along its streets. The aim of this event
is to contribute to protect the night sky from 21.00 to 23.00 hours.
The past 10th
August 2024, Fundación Monte Mediterráneo had the opportunity of living this
“Checa Ilumina experience” and, the day after, we successfully introduced the
project of Caminos Trashumantes. The presentation of the project, from who we
are the coordinating body, took place in the “Museo de la Ganadería Tradicional
en el Alto Tajo” (https://www.checa.es/museo-de-la-transhumancia/).
Together with the council of Checa, COW Coworking y Publicidad S.L., Fundación
Cesefor and Wild Watching Spain S.L., FMM coordinates this innovative proposal,
which strives for linking sustainable tourism with transhumance culture and the
use of the Spanish livestock routes. Likewise, the icing on the cake of our
weekend was to be able to participate in other interesting activities with
related topic around the area.
