The project
of BioNNOMÍA was introduced to a large number of guests and
participants in the surroundings of the hermitage "La Ermita del Roblo",
in Salamón (León). This event was held during the weekend from the 12th
and 13th July 2024. The main goal of this project is to resume
transhumance as a sustainable management and use system of endogenous
resources linked to extensive sheep livestock, create circular economy
and back up with research and I+ D.
As
president of the neighbourhood council, Ángel Alonso, indicated, since
2014 they have been working together in Salamón with the purpose of
recovering the pastures for sheep livestock, located in their mountain
passes (Las Pintas). These places are designated for the flocks of sheep
that come from Extremadura and Andalusia. Thanks to their dedication,
especially to Angel's meaningful participation, they have helped to
improve the natural values, those which BioNNOMÍA is also dealing with.
Furthermore, the day was taken to celebrate other activities as the described below:
•
The presentation of the book "The passes and transhumance at the
valleys 'Sajambre' and 'Valdeón': Tradition and future perspective, from
the author Manuel Rodríguez Pascual
• Workshop about the work of wool carried out by the organisation "Camino Canal"
•
Model show with ecological merino transhumant wool clothes. These
clothing items were exposed at the wool museum of Salamón during the
sessions
• Performance of the youth group from the music school of León
• Opportunity of seeing good specimens of Mastiffs (from León)
We
hope and desire that more people become aware and involved every day, in
order to restore this ancient activity, besides encouraging all the
downstream activities, so that we are able to benefit from the
uncountable advantages that these practices generate to safeguard our
planet!
