The Holm Oak

More than 600 species of invertebrates are being fed by the holm oak

The scientist Juan Antonio Hernández-Agüero from the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos has published an article in the magazine Diversity and Distributions in which he describes with, amongst others, about 200 bibliographic references 600 species related to this wood. He describes therein also that 222 species live on the leaves and 164 on living and deadwood.

The scientist also describes the threat which the holm oak is exposed to due to changes in the management of the agro-eco-system, climate change and their consequences: fungus, bacteria, longer and severe draughts, etc.
