 Erasmus+ KA2 Agroinclusion

For the first time, the partners of the Erasmus+ KA2 Agroinclusion from Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Czechia took place from October 11th to 15th on the Dehesa San Francisco. The project is about exchanging good practice examples, synergies and presentation of projects concerning training and vocational educational training for persons with handicaps.

How did Fundación Monte Mediterráneo get to do Agroinclusion?

It has always been Fundación Monte Mediterráneo’s idea that happiness – based in the idea of the Constitution of Bhutan which affirms the right for happiness and well-being of their people – is not only the basis for mental and physical health for persons but also for the quality of the products.

At the beginning of Fundación Monte Mediterráneo’s activity, one of the ideas was to cultivate good tomatoes. The first try consisted in cultivating tomatoes in a distinctly separated patch surrounded by other vegetables like eggplant, garlic, carrots, etc. The result was miserable in quantity and quality.

The second try was based on the idea of segregation, which meant that the different vegetables were in a distinctly separate patch: the result was even worse.

With integration – all vegetables in one patch but separated from each other – got us closer to a tomato quality with good taste.

Finally, inclusion, which was the free and not delimited growing together of different vegetables in one patch brought the required result: tasty and happy tomatoes!

After having been successful with the tomatoes, we applied the same system in the training and education of people with different kinds of handicaps. A happy live together came out!
