One of the reasons for the decline of transhumance in the last years is the miserable state of the infrastructure for the shepherds on the mountain meadows: without electricity and running water, no adequate sanitary facilities, no access to cell phone network or internet, etc.
To stop these conditions and encourage Young People to decide to become shepherds on mountain Meadows during the summer months, the Grupo Operativo Ovinnova has been improving the life on the mountain huts by, for example, installing access internet.
That is how, in cooperation with the company Eurona five mountain huts have received facilities to access internet. Four of them in the province of Palencia and another one in the province of León:
This has only been posible beause of the support of Eurona, company ambitious to take modern technology to deprived areas since the company took care of 80% of the costs and Grupo Operativo 20%.
