San Juan de Plan’s Shepherds School  signs a Cooperation Agreement with Fundación Monte Mediterráneo

 

 

 

San Juan de Plan’s municipality, promoter of the local Shepherds School fomalized this Tuesday a cooperation agreement with Fundación Monte Mediterráneo. The purpose of the contract is to create a work framework for future common projects and initiatives in the sectors of extensive livestock breeding, professional training as well as rural and local development.

The agreement was signed by the  Lord Mayor Roberto Serrano and Ernestine Lüdeke, president of the Foundation, who came to San Juan de Plan in company of the Foundation’s manager Juan Luis Gázquez.

Fundación Monte Mediterráneo is developing its work since 1994 in Santa Olalla del Cala, in the Parque Natural de Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche (Huelva), managing an extensive dehesa with traditional skills in a sustainable and ecological way to improve and preserve the resources of this agro-silvo-pastoral system.

Fundación Monte Mediterráneo carries out a number of training activities in its own training center. The most outstanding activiy is the transhumance activity in the grupo operativo Ovinnova, which moves thousands of sheep every Summer to the mountains pastures of León and Palencia, helping to improve the competitivity of transhumance pastoralism, guarantee biodiversity and develop sustainably the mountain habitats.

San Juan de Plan’s Shepherds School on its part, has concluded the first training phase training the coaches for the shepherd’s training and is about to launch the call for the Shepherd students in the next months.
