For the Motherland
to Spain, to the King and the Government
Conference by Emilio Zurano Muñoz
at the Royal Economic Society of Madrid of Friends of the Country
Growing cities depopulate the countryside and encourage poverty and misery.
Spain’s true wealth lies in major improvement and expansion of the cultivable land.
Spain is the only nation in Europe that can save itself from the economic catastrophe, if there is judiciously taken care of the agriculture and the natural treasures.
A big city is like a big hungry stomach whereas fertile plains and gardens are a source of fruits which always have a preferent position in the universal market.
The true armies that defend Spain are its husband- and fishermen; we all live at their expense.
The culture of a country is proportional to the appreciation it has for its agriculture.
