In the article in question the cooperatives ea group and Comercial Ovinos in cooperation with Fundación Monte Mediterráneo promote the movement of more than 4.000 sheep from Andalusia and Extremadura to mountain pastures in the León and Palencia provinces. The two existing modalities are: to some mountain pastures the sheep farmer go with their herds and in the Palencia province experienced shepherds welcome the sheep of 4 sheep farmers to care for them. Ecovalia supports the project and certifies the mountain pastures as organic.
In former projects buildings and shelter for shepherds and animals were equipped and renovated.
In the article ea group emphasises the ecological benefit – the land of the home farms can rest – as well as the advantages for animal health and welfare of the transhuming sheep.
