Wendela has offspring – a Christmas story

We are delighted to announce that Wendela – our aged cow – gave birth to a new calf
Wendela’s story goes back to Christmas 2001. Together with her two sisters she was born as a completely black Berrenda cow baby. We could not believe it when we saw this Christmas surprise: triplets are extremely seldom in cattle breeding and, as a matter of fact, three were far too much for the mother. She left one of the triplets – Lolita – with us so we bottle fed her. A few days later we missed Wendela and in spite of several search operations, we could not find her. Finally our staff member Andrés found her and brought her on horseback to her sister – so we had two babies to bottle feed them. Later, when they grew up, they joined the herd and the three black triplets lived on the Dehesa San Francisco for a long time.
Wendela – now 16 years old – is the last of the three sisters on the farm and her calf is, just like her, black.
We share the joy with her and wish you a Merry Christmas!
