Macrothele calpeiana, conocida como la araña negra del alcornocal o la araña toro es una especie de araña migalomorfa y la araña más grande de Europa. La especie protegida construye su túnel-telaraña solamente en el sur de la Península ibérica y en partes del noroeste de África y enriquece nuestra fauna única en la Dehesa San Francisco. Un mordisco de la araña no es peligroso – pero duele…
Groß, schwarz und ein wenig gruselig….
…war die Entdeckung unserer Gruppe junger Menschen aus Santa Olalla, die ein Praktikum innerhalb des Biodiversitätsprojektes machen. Macrothele calpeiana, die im Spanischen auch die „schwarze Spinne aus dem Korkeichenwald“ (araña negra del alcornocal) oder „Stierspinne“ (araña toro) heißt, gehört zu den Vogelspinnenartigen und ist die größte Spinne Europas. Die geschützte Art spinnt ihre Trichternetze nur im Süden der Iberischen Halbinsel sowie vereinzelt in Nordwestafrika und bereichert unsere einzigartige Fauna auf der Dehesa San Francisco. Der Biss der Spinne ist nicht gefährlich – tut aber weh!
Big, black and a little bit creepy….
was the discovery of the young trainees from Santa Olalla in our biodiversity project. Macrothele calpeiana, the Spanish funnel-web spider, regional known as the “black spider of the cork oak forest” (araña negra del alcornocal) or as the “bull-spider” (araña toro), belongs to the Mygalomorphae and is the biggest spider in Europe. The protected species builds its funnel-shaped web only in the southern Iberian Peninsula and in parts of northwest Africa and it enriches our unique fauna in the Dehesa San Francisco. The bit of this spider isn´t dangerous – but it hurts!
